August,2012. Siemens Energy contracts with Suzhou Porcelain Insulator Works for NV Energy project.

(August, 2012)  Siemens Energy has contracted with China based Suzhou Porcelain Insulator Works (SPIW) for the supply of solid core porcelain station post insulators for a new project with NV Energy.  PDF Version

The project, located in northern Nevada, consists of the construction of two Fixed Series Capacitors (FSC’s) for new substations near Ely and Battle Mountain, NV.  The Robinson Substation, located 30 miles West of Ely, will help connect NV Energy's northern and southern service areas for the first time and make wind, solar and geothermal energy projects possible by providing a path to Las Vegas for green energy.  The substation will transform 500 kilovolts of electricity to 345 kV.

The new Falcon Substation, near Battle Mountain, NV will also tie into the connection between northern and southern service areas.
